American Dad is an animated series from the creator of Family Guy, Seth MacFarlane.  It is aired by Fox in the United States.  The series has been running since 2005 and is steadily becoming popular.

The series is about Stan Smith a CIA agent  who will stop at nothing to protect his country and his family.  He is an extreme right wing fanatic who is constantly on the alert for terrorist activity.  Stan will go to the full extreme to protect America from any harm and is so paranoid will pull his gun out in the house and start shooting  when  he hears a noise.  Stan has a wife Hayley who has a past life of sex and drugs and two teenage children Hayley who is attending college and is a left wing liberal, Steve his dorky son who wants to be cool but fails miserably, Roger the sarcastic space alien who rescued Stan from Area 51 and is now not allowed to leave the house so he is reduced to eating the contents of the fridge, drinking wine and smoking cigarettes.  Klaus is the German speaking goldfish who had his brain swapped with an east German skier so that east Germany would not win the ski jumping event.  Klaus is constantly lusting after Francine and tries to take every opportunity to take advantage of her.
